Making An Astronomical Difference:
Hello everybody,
As we have followed the developments and progress of the International Space Station over the last few months, one cannot fail to be impressed by the shining example of everyone working together.
Let me put it this way, Major Tim Peak accomplished much, but he did not achieve it alone.
Obviously, for most of us, well, for me, there is no chance of ever entering space.
However, with my feet firmly placed on the earth, I cannot fail to be chuffed with the help that I’ve recently received.
It all began one year, forty eight weeks and six days ago.
And, although we could have a little grumble about the length of time it took, we are quite content with the final outcome.
I must add though, the initial idea was suggested some twenty odd years ago, but I’ve always resisted the concept.
Anyhow, it all came to ahead when I ended up in intensive care almost two years ago.
Then, it became apparent to me that I needed to seriously consider having a stair lift installed in our home.
It was also at this point that I was introduced to the reality that I needed the occasional use of a wheelchair.
In fact, the wheelchair was delivered to our home before I had been discharged from hospital.
But, what about the stair lift?
Well, as I have already indicated, it took a little time.
Still, thankfully, I’m really pleased with the attitude of all involved in the process.
This included:
One physiotherapist:
Two occupational therapists:
Three administrators:
Two project managers:
Two electricians:
2 Plumbers:
Two joiners:
And yep, one stair lift engineer.
All, a shining example of people working together.
Everyone was polite.
No one behaved in a patronizing or condescending manner.
Everyone appeared to enjoy the work they were doing.
No flippant talk, no negative tone.
All working as a team.
Each was clear about their role.
And so, this got me a thinking about the Kingdom of God.
You see, every child of God has an essential part to play in the life of the Kingdom.
No matter what our ability, we can make a difference in the lives of those around us.
But wait!
I guess there are times in life when we all need a little help.
So, listen up!
Even though an individual could have an effect on another, remember this, we achieve so much more together than what we can do alone.
Now, that’s something to think about.
Say, yes!
