Go The Extra Mile

Go The Extra Mile:

Howdy precious friends,

It’s great when people go the extra mile.

For instance, a staff nurse who worked beyond her shift to make sure I was comfortable.

Our pastor who drove us through unfamiliar Territory to get us to a hospital appointment.

The gardener who mowed our neighbours lawn with no extra charge.

A friend who travelled five miles from his home to ours to re-set the pressure on our boiler.

The delivery man who carried a heavy box of medical supplies up our stairs.

Our neighbour who picked up some groceries for us.

All these and many more were much appreciated.

Only, consider the times when we have just cared about ourselves and our own needs.

It’s easy to go through the day focusing our attention on ourselves rather than directing our attention to the needs of those around us.

I guess, it’s not so easy to enjoy the things we aught to do.

Sure, we busy ourselves doing this and that to meet our own wants and needs instead of relinquishing things for the benefit of others.

Oh, my!

Friends, how often have you gotten to the end of the day and stewed over a situation, wondering what could have been accomplished?

If only we had the guts to interrupt our busy schedules!

Just bear this in mind, if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life.

Remember, Jesus wants each and everyone of us to go the extra mile.

My, what a difference that would make!

So come, don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage.

Simply forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand.

Be driven by love.

Whatever you want people to do for you, grab the initiative and do it for them.

Love others as well as you love yourself.

Now say, yes!
