Multi-tasking 24/7

Multi-tasking 24/7:

At times, one could be like Mary.

Other times, just like Martha.

Whoever, my carer has never understood those who reckon they can efficiently multi-task.

You know, those who believe they can perform more than one task at the same time.

We must ask ourselves, are these people who say they can multi-task able to accomplish a purpose – by functioning effectively?

Are they properly or sufficiently qualified or capable?

Are they being real?

Genuine?

These are important questions that we could all discuss.

But we’ll leave that for another day!

All the same, I’m very mindful of the carers who selflessly give of their energy, time and resources – with no call for help, or for that matter, praise!

Besides, if we are to believe in the qualities of those who multi-task – I figure, carers lead the way.

In actual fact, they accomplish so much.

Tasks like providing support and sustenance, 24/7.

Sure-enough, some carers fulfil assignments which include feeding and washing another person, and the activity of helping a person to get dressed.

Giving medications and moving or guiding somebody around can be another chore.

Carers also take on responsibilities such as doing one’s shopping, paying bills, and so on.

All this, while being attentive to what’s coming next – or anxious about missing something out!

In many cases, carers give emotional support 24/7.

Day in – day out!

You’ve guessed it, caring for someone can be a very daunting and demanding responsibility.

And carers need support too!

As I consider my multiple health issues, I’m so thankful for the care I receive.

My carer, my precious Rachel, is one in a million.

My treasure.

It hasn’t been easy for her though.

It wasn’t an over-night transition!

It wasn’t a qualification received with great speed!

Still, over the years she has learned to slow down and pace her priorities.

And we appreciate the support network around us.

Yet, all of us are still learning.

Including me!

One thing however, that the two of us have never neglected – is spending time with our heavenly Papa.

And this leads me to reason-out things right now.

Throughout life, we can become so anxious and concerned about a million details, but really, only one thing matters!

And that’s our 24/7 relationship with God.

In light of this, we must never allow things to become a distraction for what is important!

Nonetheless, I’m certain that none of us are uninformed concerning the pressures people face today.

But perhaps, those things – like the “one’s we care for” – are the things we could prioritise – by keeping them at the top of our checklist.

And what’s urgently needed – is giving careful consideration to moving unimportant tasks which could be checked or consulted later.

But let’s not, under any circumstance, try to figure out these things on our own!

Instead, let’s give God the credit for everything we accomplish!

And let’s make spatial relation for Him.

Simply elbow room.

Find breathing space.

Snatch a short respite.

For in spite of expectations, without Him, we can do nothing.

So, let’s reach-out to the One who really counts.

Let’s take time-out with Him today.

And, let’s accept, it’s not on account of what we do – but on account of where we are!

Remember, quietness sits with us in the closeness of God.

An undiluted easiness.

Refreshing tranquility.

In His grip.

Being conscious of Whose we are.
