Inspired by a book that I’m reviewing for a friend:
This week, I’ve been thinking intently and at length about the sequence of events in the ministry life of Jesus, and I’m encouraged to see the occasions when He impacted the lives of so many individuals.
And He still does.
So, as we look back to the events, one can’t help but be in awe of the occasion when the master of ceremonies at a wedding reception announced, “Everybody I know puts his good wine on first and then when men have had plenty to drink, he brings out the poor stuff. But you have kept back your good wine till now!”
Wow!
But you know, it didn’t end there.
Of course, there are many other miraculous things which Jesus did, and I suppose that if each one were written down in detail, there would not be room in the whole world for all the books that would have to be written.
For instance, we see the cleansing of a leper.
The healing of a Roman captains servant.
Then, there was the healing of Peter’s mother in law.
And we mustn’t miss out the moment when Jesus told the wind to be silent, the sea to quiet down.
Sure-enough, Jesus relieved the inwardly tormented. He cured the bodily ill.
On a road near a cemetery, He healed a victim of demons.
Then, He healed a paraplegic.
What’s more, He healed the woman who had a haemorrhage for twelve years!
Raised Jairus’ little girl from death.
Healed two blind men found alongside the road.
Healed a demon possessed man who was also speechless.
In reality, He healed many diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives.
Thus, He healed a man with a crippled hand.
Then, there was the occasion when He fed the five thousand.
And the unforgettable moment when He walked on water.
And, He healed the Canaanite mother’s daughter.
Fed another four thousand, maybe more!
Healed the epileptic boy.
Even cursed the fig tree.
Healed a demon possessed man in the synagogue.
Healed the deaf person who was unable to speak.
Healed another sightless man at Bethsaida.
And He healed blind Bartimaeus too.
Then, there was that miraculous catch of fish.
A widow’s son raised to life.
And He healed a woman who had gotten so twisted and bent over with arthritis that she couldn’t even look up!
Next, He healed a man with edema.
Healed ten lepers.
Healed Malchius ear.
Healed an officials son.
Healed the disabled man at the Bethesda pool.
Healed a young man born blind.
Raised Lazarus from the dead.
And yes, I’m sure I’ve probably missed something, or someone, but, let’s not forget that second miraculous catch of fish.
Friends, each story connects two thousand years ago to modern-day life.
So, as we expect and experience a new outpouring of God’s power in our generation – let’s consider the words of Jesus:
“I assure you that the man who believes in me will do the same things that I have done, yes, and he will do even greater things than these…”
What a challenge!
A Phenomenal New day!
