The Leisurely Toad

The Leisurely Toad:

This weeks E-word Communicator comes from a beautiful woodland surrounding – in a Norwegian log cabin, set on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Admittedly, although we’ve had rather a down-pour – it’s been a pleasurable week nonetheless.

As we soak in this environment, it’s appropriate that we choose to share about taking a break.

In today’s world, many of us go about things in an extreme way – normally running around in circles.

Quite often we could find that one thing is pulling us one way, another thing is pulling us another.

Frequently, our schedules become too busy.

Many of us meet ourselves coming back!

Confronted by this rapid bustling commotion, we find ourselves fretting whether or not we are going to fulfil the requirements or expectations of the day.

Thus, we become tired.

Depleted of strength and energy.

Run-down.

Physically and emotionally exhausted.

Mentally fatigued.

Yet, the Bible reminds us – Father God wants His children to get their proper rest.

Still, in our society, those who are not in action or not at work are often “labelled” as being lazy and indifferent!

In Direct contrast, those who are busy and on the go are “looked upon” as being ambitious and successful.

Whatever our position, in many ways, it’s increasingly more difficult to find time to chill-out, rest, slow-down, and take it easy.

However, sooner or later, if we continue to work excessively hard and don’t take time-out to relax and recharge, we will suffer severe physical strain and distress.

Understand this, a day off is not being lazy, work-shy, or so lacking in interest as to cause boredom!

Even so, it’s almost as if we have to have something planned to be viewed as interesting!

That’s just the wrong way to look at it, the wrong attitude to have!

On certain occasions Rachel and I have planned nothing. And we enjoy doing, well, nothing! Nothing carried out according to a plan anyway.

Does this mean life is irksome?

Far from it!

Okay, I’m no longer in paid employment, due to multiple health issues, but Rachel is my carer, 24/7.

Does this mean I’m a lazy toad?

Nope, I don’t think so!

There’s still certain chores I can do – at a leisurely pace.

Ah, but, does this mean, because I’m no longer in the work-place, I’m not entitled to rest?

Course not!

Listen, no matter how big or small a work-load we may or may not have – all of us, whoever we are – need to be able to think clearly and act intelligently – with a rejuvenated physique, having new strength and energy to face the hustle and bustle of each new day.

Moreover, there’s more to life than the general progression of our working or professional lives.

Let’s not search for status or ambition at the expense of those we treasure.

Instead, let’s give ourselves a break!

Be unhurried and relaxed!

Take life easy!

Be free from disturbance!

Just be!

Remember, our heavenly Father enjoys giving rest to those He loves.

Hey! What a good idea!

A God idea!

Why, even when we’re saturated by the atmospheric conditions, this serves as a visible symbol for being engulfed in liquid love.

Fathers love.

And with His help, our strength grows as we go along.

So, come-on kids! Let’s be like the leisurely toad: Fully Reliant On God.

Now, that’s nothing more than an amazing acronym for an amphibian!!

LOL.
