Bumble-bee:
Not only from appearances alone, but also according to the laws of aerodynamics, it is, apparently, impossible for the bumble-bee to fly.
But do you know – no one told the bumble-bee?!
Assuming that this statement is true, one can’t help but find this amazing!
Quite often in my own life I have been faced with obstacles.
And yet, several times I have been determined to do or achieve something!
It’s amazing how one can discover how to press through to overcome those obstacles.
Let me regress a little:
On loosing my eye sight at the age of 24, I was asked by a social worker:
Well, David what do you plan to do with the rest of your life?
This was immediately backed up with the statement:
You will never be able to use a computer or pilot a plane!
Obstacles were immediately put in my way!!
All the same, to be honest with you, I never wanted to pilot a plane anyway!!
In retrospect though, the thoughts of the social worker were quite limited.
Who’d of thought way back in those days I’d be reaching thousands of individuals in over 153 countries, and all with the help of a speech screen reader and portable computer!
Imagine; not only from appearances alone, but according to the thinking of the day, the idea of a blind man operating a computer were beyond comprehension.
Yet, for me, time has moved on – and we are in the age of the Internet.
For many of us, we could be facing obstacles in life, they come in various shapes and sizes.
Even so, whatever you may be facing today, keep in mind the flight of the bumble-bee.
After all, no one told him that according to the brains of science, he cannot fly.
No one told him his wings aren’t big enough, and that based on the laws of aerodynamics it is probably impossible for him to fly!
So what does the hairy bumble-bee do?
He carries on flying regardless – unaware of the questionable intellectual challenge.
But you know, this reminds me of the verse in Ecclesiastes, where we read:
If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done!
So, let me encourage you if you are facing barriers and obstacles in life – pray:
Lord, the circumstances around me may not be perfect, but I know that You are.
In my time of despair, anguish & uncertainty – help me to find the strength to carry on.
Help me to put my trust and confidence in You.
And, help me to realise, with You on my side – leading and guiding the way – I will discover a break-through in my life and circumstances.
