Receiver Of Grace:
Many readers over the last few months may have noticed my signature at the end of every E-word:
David Prince: Full-time Husband To Rachel – Writer Of Stuff – Receiver Of Grace – Drinker Of Tea – & Hearty Neighbour.
It’s something I’ve used for a while in my profile, and even recently in my letter head.
Most of it needs no explanation.
But what does “receiver of grace” mean? you may well ask.
Quite simply, we are the receiver.
God is the giver.
He treats us far better than we deserve!
That’s right, there’s no doubt about it!
God, from His boundless bounteousness gives us something that we precisely need.
Something we would never ever think of.
Salvation.
New life in Jesus.
A free expression of love.
It is God’s gift, pure and simple.
But nothing we’ve personally achieved in our own strength will gain advantage.
We didn’t earn it, not one of us did!
Yet God’s readiness to give and forgive is open to all.
Yep, everyone!
And just so you know, God rescued us as an act of kindness..
I cannot emphasize this enough!
We had nothing to do with it.
We are helpless without His help.
Desperate without Him.
The reality in finding hope for life is a gift from God.
There, that’s it!
It is the concrete representation of true love: not that we have loved God first, but that He loved us and sent His unique Son on a special mission.
His sacrificial love bought our freedom.
So, as we approach Easter time, let’s remind ourselves, and respond to what He has done.
Through faith.
Open the door.
Invite Him in.
Receive.
And remember this, God stays close to those who call on Him, those who pray sincerely.
For everyone of God’s blessings are given on account of grace – and received by faith.
Sure-enough, He wants to bless us for a purpose.
For just such a time as this.
Oh-yes!
Grace mixed with faith and love poured over us and into us.
And all because of Jesus.
