Improve Your Serve 1:
Friends, even though I’m no longer a pastor matching the main-stream example of ministry types, I am still able to remember the feelings of despair in the face of obstacles as if it were only yesterday.
And yes, the conflicts and struggles that I sometimes came through and sometimes didn’t were varied!
This may seem a strange acknowledgement, but true.
Anyhow, here comes a message of encouragement that deviates from the norm.
Rachel and I have been prompted over the last few weeks to pray for young pastors.
We were especially concerned when we heard somewhere that a large percentage of ministers consider pastoral work has negatively affected their family life.
It seems that some have given an account of significant emotional strain – with stress related problems and difficulties.
Nearly all feel they are poorly equipped to deal successfully with the ministry obligations or responsibilities.
Equally, many feel unqualified and discouraged, indicating that the ministry was completely different to what they had expected.
A large number feel unable to meet the demands of the position.
And many pastors are constantly struggling with depression.
Well, the issues go on and on.
But know this, there is some good news ahead!
It’s not all doom and gloom!
There is nothing that even comes close to the great privilege of being a minister in His Majestys Service.
Nothing beats watching God’s awesome work in people’s lives!
It’s great doing life with fabulous folk.
Believe me, the perks far outnumber the hardships and difficulties.
But realistically, we must be aware that some of the hard times are necessary to shape, influence, and give direction.
Quite often you could discover it will improve your serve.
Besides, things may not be any easier for you right now, but be assured, you are not alone!
Sure-enough, we are praying for you.
And we’ll continue to stand and pray “with” you.
We’re trusting, hoping and believing that you will be helped and strengthened in your ministry and family life.
Just remember, we appreciate you.
We simply encourage you to hold-on.
Hold-fast.
Hold-out.
Use the gift that God has given you to serve.
Remain strong.
And don’t quit!
