One Thing After Another:
Hey, it’s a new day!
Still, do you remember when the fold-away seat in our shower cubical came away from the wall?
Well, only a fortnight later, we were travelling in our brand new Vauxhall to church.
Obviously, Rachel was driving.
Anyhow, as Rachel turned into the entrance of the church car park, she observed that a car was parked opposite the right to enter.
Thus, she had to manoeuvre our car to avoid hitting the green painted church gate.
And of course, Rachel didn’t want to hit the neighbouring car either!
It was a tight squeeze!
Believing that she was ok, Rachel continued to drive forward, but alas, she hadn’t quite grasped the situation, and subsequently scraped the back-end of our new Vauxhall against the church gate!
Shock! Horror!
The harsh noise was bad enough, yet, the mind boggles as I think about the “mushy-pea-green” cutting away the surface of the “carbon flash!”
An engraved green stripe on a black car, with a dent!
Not good!
For this reason, our car had to go into the body shop to be repaired.
In the meantime, we were given a courtesy car – which was great, but unfortunately, the courtesy car was much smaller than we were use to, lower down, with no Driver’s seat height, tilt and lumbar adjustment.
What’s more, it was also diesel!!
Plus, Rachel couldn’t find the reverse gear, so as soon as it was parked on our graveled drive, that’s where it remained!
It’s engine stood cold for days!!
In spite of that, nearly two weeks later, our car returned, it looked completely neat and clean!
Brand new!
Tidy!
And sure-enough, it wasn’t long before we were off and out again.
We were like a couple of kids with a new toy! Freedom at last!
But then, two days later, we were in the middle of washing some laundry, when quickly, without warning, the washing machine began to emit a cloud of fine particles!
Yes, that’s right!
I sensed, alarmingly, all things appeared rather cloudy!
Smoke seemed to be moving in surges – billowing everywhere!
To cut a long story short, the emergency services were called.
Our home was evacuated!
Our precious neighbours came to help.
And it wasn’t long before two lots of fire crew came to our rescue – along with three police officers!
One fire crew from the south of the county, the other from the west!
While the fire crew introduced themselves to each other, our pending predicament stayed the same!
Time was gradually passing!
Afterwards, it turned out that the pump on the washing machine had caught fire!
Thankfully, nothing else had, and no-one was hurt.
Anyway, nearly three weeks later, we took delivery of a new washing machine, which incidentally, was delivered and installed before 8 o’clock on a Monday morning.
Everything appeared fine!
Spic and span!
However, less than tow hours later, we discovered water every where, as the guy who installed the washing machine failed to cap off the hot water supply properly!!
There was water in all sorts of places!
Then, if this wasn’t enough, three days later, with the speed of lightning, and the force of a thunderclap, the heavens opened wide and heavy rain began to leak through into our utility room!!
Oh-boy!
It seemed to be one thing after another!
Ever been there?
I’m sure you have.
There are times when life’s problems may come at us in an uninterrupted way.
But you know, reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness.
Consider this, no matter what we are experiencing, God will help us to stand-firm.
So let’s draw comfort from these words:
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end – because I am God, your personal God, your Saviour.
What a blessing!
Amen? Amen!
