What is Baptism?

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [Matthew 28.]

We at Newday-Prince strongly believe in water baptism as being very important, and central to our Christian walk and faith.

Why?

Because the Lord Jesus Christ has commanded it – and, because it is a joy to follow our Lord’s example.

In the eyes of the world, baptism is the hallmark of a Christian.

What does baptism mean?

Baptism represents the burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is also an outward expression of having a changed heart and life – the old life is gone, a new life begins to flourish.

What’s the significance of immersion?

Every baptism in the New Testament was by immersion.

The Greek for the word “baptizo” means to immerse, plunge, dip, or bury in water.

[This Greek word rules out “sprinkling!”]

Who can be baptized?

Everyone who has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour can be baptized.

Today, if you have not yet been baptised by full immersion as our Lord Jesus commands, what’s stopping you?
