23 Years With A Pancreas Transplant

23 Years With A Pancreas Transplant:

Gift Of Life Anniversary:

It’s 23 years TODAY since I became a recipient of a kidney and PANCREAS Transplant:

For readers who do not know, I received a double transplant on 1 May 1991, but unfortunately, the kidney began to reject and fail after 5 years.

However, after another 18 months on dialysis, I received my second kidney transplant – which continues to function extremely well.

So why have I emphasized the pancreas?

Well, my pancreas transplant has been going strong since day one.

Thus, today is 23 years as a recipient of my pancreas transplant.

23 years without the need to inject insulin!

Incidentally, according to the National Health Service, on average a transplanted pancreas functions properly for 10 years.

I repeat:

On average a transplanted pancreas functions properly for 10 years.

So, listen up!

With God’s help – I am moving forward with a strong and permanent gratitude of my donors, their families and the teams of doctors, nurses and technicians who have given me the extraordinary opportunities to enjoy and know life beyond the age of 28.

And of course, I’m so thankful for the loving care and support that I receive from my precious wife, Rachel.

She’s a gem!

For us, every day is a new day!

And we’re enjoying every moment!

What a praise!
