Grasping At Straws:
Have you ever tried to find an easy solution to that predicament you’re in?
Do you wonder what’s around the corner?
Maybe you’re looking for advice. Where do you turn?
Perhaps your automatic reaction is to purchase a newspaper or a periodic magazine, and quickly thumb through to the horoscope column.
Does that sound familiar?
Yeah?
But is it really the answer?
Hum!
Now listen, many people do not realise that astrology really has its roots in a mystical ritual of fortune-telling.
In short, it’s an activity resembling science but based on dishonourable assumptions.
In all honesty, it’s grasping at straws, causing one to believe, act or make a decision, usually in foolhardiness!
Even though some people look to the stars to get advice – God’s Word, The Bible, may cause others to think again about having faith in the activity.
Consider this, fortune-telling has no beneficial use! Nah! None at all!
Based on the positions of the planets and signs of the zodiac at a particular time and place – it has been exploited to “read” a person’s past, present, and future.
Friends, the Bible clearly indicates – this activity is wrong.
What’s more, we shouldn’t practice palm reading, black-magic, fortune-telling, casting spells, asking spooks or spirits for help, or conjuring up the dead1.
In truth, the predictions we see in horoscopes are just unhelpful guesses!
It’s all smoke and hot air!!
Don’t believe everything you read or hear2.
There’s only One who knows the future!
Thankfully, Father God knows what He’s doing.
He has it all planned out – plans to take care of us, plans to give us the future we hope for3.
When we call on Him, when we come and pray to Him, He’ll listens.
When we come looking for Him, we’ll find Him.
Yes, when we get serious about finding God and want Him more than anything else, He’ll make sure we won’t be disappointed.
Today; we frequently discover with total astonishment, that God our Father, the creator of the billions of stars and planets is concerned about every part of our lives.
Yes, that’s right! Every part!
So, if you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to Father. He loves to help.
He is waiting for us to call to Him.
And as we call to Him – He will answer us. He’ll tell us marvellous and wondrous things that we could never figure-out on our own4.
And one of the ways He does this, is through His Word, the Bible.
Indeed, the Word of God is our guide through life5.
And when it comes to our journey of life – our past, present and future – The Bible has more to say about it, than any horoscope could tell.
Our wisdom comes from God, not the stars6.
