On A Crest Of A Wave.

On The Crest Of A Wave:

In the darkness of an early morning hour – a figure appeared – moving like a ghost on the surface of the sea.

At this point the disciples were spooked!

Oh-boy!

They were thrown into a state of intense panic.

They didn’t realise that the “ghostly figure” was in actual fact Jesus walking on the water.

Then all of a sudden, it seemed as if one of the disciples had received insight.

Sure-enough, fisherman Pete said, “Lord, if it is You, direct me to come on the water.

Wow!

Could it be possible for fisherman Pete to walk on the water?

It seems impossible!

But listen carefully:

God will make a way when there seems to be no way!

Jesus said, “Come.”

So, on impulse, with great excitement, fisherman Pete moves by placing one foot out of the sailing vessel, then the other.

Cool!

He’s walking on water.

One cannot help but be a little curious about what the other disciples are thinking at this time.

Such astonishment.

An unforgettable expectation filled with breathless wonder!!

What an extraordinary moment!

But wait!

What’s happening?

O no!

O yes!

SPLASH.

Pete begins to gradually sink beneath the water!

He suddenly took his eyes off Jesus as he became distracted by the strong winds coming from no particular direction, compounded by crushing waves beneath his feet. This caused a panic attack to over-power him.

Unexpectedly, the plug was pulled from his extraordinary experience!

At this moment, one cannot help but wonder what’s going-on through the inquisitive minds of the other disciples.

Do you think they begin to chuckle?

Perhaps even blare out, “we told you so!”

One can only wonder.

Meanwhile, as Pete comes out in a cold sweat, weakened by frustration, he cries, “Master save me!”

Jesus reaches out, rescues the submerging fisherman, and within a short moment the Saviour leads him back to the comfort zone of the small boat!

A near death experience.

Totally amazing!

Pete took centre stage – and yet the story points to Jesus.

Often, in our own situations we may have reason to ask, “Where is God when I need Him?”

In fact, you may be there right now.

Will God ever appear when I am panic stricken and afraid, confronted by life’s distractions, disappointments, dashed hopes, broken dreams and those drastic circumstances which crush and over-power me?

Will He ever turn up?

Well now, listen with intention:

With out a shadow of a doubt, God is always there.

He knows the challenges which bring fear to your heart, and He is not about to abandon you.

The Christian life is exciting, but it doesn’t mean that we are immune from the difficulties of life.

Storms know no boundaries!!

Still, no matter what happens God is always there.

Yes, in every circumstance of life He is there!

He reaches out, raising us to walk on the crest of the wave.

He has authority over the surging waves of our lives.

Come-on friend.

Don’t chuck up the sponge!

God never pulls the plug on you!
