Fields Of Life. Ch.17.
Different Seasons:
And so, life is like a wisp of fog!
It’s precious!
I’ve just discovered this – by reflecting on my own life’s journey.
What an awakening-the realization that time on this earth is exquisite.
And it waits for no one.
How enlightening this discovery has been for me.
THE MISTY JOURNEY:
Contemplating the experiences of my life’s journey, I’m taken aback by the realization of just how precious time is.
It whizzes by!
Indeed, we are reminded in God’s Word the Bible, What do you know about tomorrow?
How can you be so sure about your life?
It is nothing more than mist that appears for only a little while before it disappears.
I’ve encountered many episodes, seen numerous pages turned.
And they’re still turning.
As each page turns – so do the seasons.
Likewise, the seasons come and they go.
The gloomy seasons, the tragical seasons, the seasons of success, the seasons of inactivity, and the seasons in which expectations are centred.
You see, God has never constructed anguish and pain, but He will certainly allow the outcome of those occurrences to be effective!
The perks far outnumber the hardships and difficulties, especially here and now.
And as I continue to travel my life’s course, alongside my beautiful wife, Rachel, I’m even more certain that God is able to fulfil His purpose.
Yes, even in and through us!
God does extraordinary things through the lives of ordinary people!
And, as an ordinary couple, we continue to make extraordinary discoveries.
In light of this, we will never allow any health problem to limit who we are!
Even so, in spite of all the obstacles, throughout the course of our Christian walk, had Rachel and I been expecting a journey without any hard times, pressures, or problems, then of course we’d be disappointed.
Our journey has led us over a rough terrain taking us through wild country.
Realistically, both of us are aware that some of the hard times have been necessary to meld us into whom we’ve become.
And we give thanks to Him for developing and strengthening us in a manner that brought about the transition of who we are today. And we’re still on that special journey with Him!
Admittedly though, during those hard times we didn’t always feel like singing songs.
Frankly, there were mornings that didn’t “feel worth” getting up for!
Yet, we did!
And, amazingly, we found ourselves singing into the night.
We never lost hope, even though we didn’t have the big picture.
Sure, there were days when it was hard to step out in faith.
The future seemed hazy.
However, thank God, He knew what lay around the corner and because He’s all knowing – He helped us to get ready for every day.
In reality, day after day, we have known God’s back up in every difficult situation and because of this, we know He will be there for us the next time we face a challenge.
Of course, we know that there’s no room for pretence when it comes to enduring pain, sorrow, stress, and upheaval.
None of us can side-step the difficult seasons of life!
Still, for the time-being, we are experiencing the seasonal rhythms.
The contrasting seasons.
The ebbs and flows.
Yes, life is like a wisp of fog!
None of us know how long we have.
But faith sees through the haze with an inner pair of eyes.
Sure-enough, the journey through the years ultimately brings us to the present.
And, while our road has been hard, while our journey has been rough, we know in our hearts that the best is yet to come.
Yesterday has gone, a new day begins.
And we remain cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life.
Our joy overflows.
Although the sun cannot always be seen, or felt, we know it exists.
It is there.
The fields and meadows are greening up.
Every moment counts.
Now is the time to step out for Jesus.
So, each day we will proclaim the good news that God saves.
We will publish His glorious deeds among the nations, and tell everyone about the amazing things He does.
Psalm 96:2-3
