Something Needs Mending

Something Needs Mending:

Howdy friends,

It all began when we were notified of a suspected hornets nest.

Then the pest controller came to our rescue.

At that same moment, we realised the clematis was overtaking the cavity style fence between us and our neighbours.

Subsequently, we decided to cut back the ornamental climbing plant.

To our horror, we discovered the plant had actually begun to break down the fence.

The weight of the plant along with the moisture from the vine had caused the fence to deteriorate.

Forced to do none other, except remove the Clematis completely, we then discovered that the base of the fence was, surprisingly, made out of chip-board!

Oh, my!

We took a long look and pondered what we saw.

The scene preached us a sermon and we listened:

Yes, we were amazed by the sheer clumsiness by the haphazard way the fence was built.

It appeared to have been constructed without care, in a slapdash manner.

But we gave thanks, for even though our side of the cavity fence was broken, the neighbours side remained complete.

And this got us a thinking, again.

Whatever we do, we should do it well.

Consequently, we got our fence-line fixed by a competent carpenter.

Instead of a solid block fence, we designed a contemporary trellis.

And where some tall woody plants were blocking out the light, we removed them completely.

Amazingly, our garden feels a metre bigger.

Friends, maybe this is an illustration of how to examine our own hearts.

Maybe a picture about relationships.

Whatever, maybe something needs mending.

Possibly a bridge, or a shelter from hardship, rather than a fence.

Come-on!

Think about it.

And appreciate how heavenly Pa speaks to us through the ordinary course of events.
