Travelling Lighter

Travelling Lighter:

Howdy friend,

As a 50 something man who just so happens to be 1 of 4% of visually impaired people who can’t see a thing, and as a double transplant recipient with multiple medical issues, it’s not always easy for me to travel.

In fact, I never go abroad!

And the reason:

Having to intermittently self catheterise up to 8 times a day:

Taking an infinite amount of tablets, as many as 7 times a day:

Checking my blood pressure possibly 4 times a day:

Weighing myself once a day, and so on:

All these, as well as having my skin condition checked out and cleansed daily, can prove to be quite problematic.

Just visualise the luggage we have to carry!

Envisage the meticulous excursion.

Often months in the planning.

You see, before we’ve even started the journey, making room for my wheel chair can be quite a Krypton Factor.

Yes, my wheel chair!

Admittedly, I don’t use a wheel chair all the time, but if I know travelling by foot is going to be taxing to the utmost – testing my powers of endurance, resulting in me having palpitations due to intermittent claudication, then I have to use one.

So, as you can imagine, packing ones baggage to journey to Wherever, means taking up space in the car.

This is very much a test of physical stamina and mental attribution!

It’s essential to know that before we’ve even packed our “ordinary everyday” luggage, there needs to be room for:

1 light weight wheel chair:

At least 2 large boxes of speedi catheters:

Loads of bladder related accessories:

Nothing less than 2 weeks supply of medication:

Enough tubular bandages, dressings and ointment for the time away:

1 extra capacious bag made up with emergency stuff in it, including a change of clothing:

1 blood pressure machine:

1 good set of bathroom scales:

1 thermometer.

All these before we’ve even thought of anything else, especially Rachels coffee maker!

And my tea bags.

Mustn’t forget the tea bags!!

Oh, if only we could travel lighter!

Just the pure thought of travelling can make one physically and mentally fatigued!

There’s virtually everything we possess pack to capacity.

Picture how exhausting it can be.

But at least its just our physical belongings.

Still, some carry spiritual cargo.

Oh, boy!

At times, we all carry onerous difficulties we were never meant to bear.

For example:

The desires for unreachable, unspeakable, untouchable things:

The fears that come in different shapes and sizes:

The painful expectations:

The unsatisfactory qualities of being at a competitive disadvantage:

The feelings of agitation expressed in continual motion:

The strong feelings of anxiety:

The emotions experienced when not in a state of well-being:

The worries of life:

They all take over.

It’s no surprise that we become so run down!

No wonder we need a vacation!

We could be drained of energy or effectiveness:

Become extremely tired:

Completely exhausted:

And all because we carry unnecessary stuff.

Hey, it sure would be great to let go of that heavy ruck-sack.

But you know, there is an answer.

Listen carefully:

If you are tired from carrying heavy loads, you can come to the Saviour, and He will enable you to travel lighter.

All you need to do is turn all your emotion over to Him, because He loves you.

Just leave your problems in the hands of the One who can solve them.

Oh, yes!

Discover the best way to live.

Breathe-in.

Let the pressure go.

With a sigh of relief begin to travel lighter.

Much lighter.

Simples.

Now, where did I put that kettle?

Anyone seen the water-filter?
