In The Pink

In The Pink:

Recently, I attempted to purchase a birthday gift for Rachel.

It wasn’t easy, as the particular gift I had in mind was a large buttoned, long sleeved, soft knitted cardigan.

However, the size and style that I was looking for only offered a black or blue.

Blue or black.

Occasionally, a brown.

Sometimes a cream or grey, but nothing strikingly lively.

That was, until I inadvertently stumbled across a pink.

Well, actually, I also found a magenta, a red, a turquoise, and a yellow.

Wow!

Suddenly, without warning, all the birthday’s had come at once.

I sensed it was party-time!

Well, that’s how I felt.

Bring out the trifle: I prayed!

Decorate with coloured sprinkles: I craved!

Eh?

Oh, well.

Hey, ho.

One can dream.

But, let’s not get carried away here.

Sigh!

Anyhow, I decided on the pink cardigan.

Dusky pink at that.

And that did it for me.

So, pink it was.

There’s nothing wrong with pink.

It’s strange how it’s often regarded as being girlie.

It’s so easy to conform to what appears to be the popular taste.

This could cover the latest and most admired style in clothes:

Cosmetics:

Musical genre:

Food:

It could also include our pattern of behaviour:

Even faith:

Our faith:

And this got me a thinking, again.

You see, there’s no need to be overpowered by general opinion.

No need to give in to the will of others.

No need to feel intimidated by the crowd.

But instead, from the inside, we can undergo a transformation by a new way of living.

Our hearts should be changed relationally, rather than religiously controlled by rules, limitations or man-made ideas.

Just get this, our Father directs His gaze towards children whose heart beats to His heart.

He doesn’t necessarily have faith or confidence in impressive and fine-looking individuals.

Although, at times, those qualities “may” help.

Preferably, He’s looking for rainbow colours in each of us.

Sure, He’s searching for children who do not have an arrogant character.

He’s looking for goodness in our hearts.

Full of contentment.

In the pink:

Oh, yes!

With a clean healthy heart.

the very pinnacle of hope.

Living life within His favour:

The acme of excellence.

We don’t have to be restrained by rules or stipulations that limit freedom.

Still, you say: If I just make an appearance, I’ll be okay.

If I just pay lip-service, I’ll be alright.

Oh-boy!

Have I got news for you!

EGO: Edges God Out!

We shouldn’t display a sense of being better than others.

We must never have an exceptional interest in ourselves.

We will never draw close to God if we have an exaggerated opinion of our own importance.

We can’t pretend that we are who we aren’t in order to make a good impression.

No person can dupe God!

He does not need to be wowed with our outward peculiarities.

Of course, we are all unique.

What matters most is how God sees us.

He always places special emphasis on the inward attractions, like the character of our hearts.

Now remember, if the way we live reflects the heart of God – there’s a strong chance people will know we are real.

So, hear with intention.

Listen up.

God loves rainbow colours.

Especially pink.

Oh, yeah!

And I guess He loves trifle too.

Particularly with a sponge base soaked in wine:

A layer of fruit wrapped in jelly:

A single thickness of pink blancmange:

Another layer of fruit wrapped in jelly:

Then a single thickness of custard:

Covered with a generous amount of fluffy cream:

And decorated with “loads” of sprinkles.

Come-now.

Know His heart.

Chuckle.
