Somebody Check:
Are you confident about everything you hear?
Do you really believe everything you read?
Check it out!
Many thing’s which are spoken or written by a particular person of high regard – are believably true.
Yes, that’s what some people think.
It must be true!
Sure.
For instance, look at what happens when Rev. Fame leaves a comment on social media.
Suddenly, within a minute or two, one hundred, two hundred, six hundred people click to indicate how they like or agree with his comment.
When Mrs Celebrity comes along, something similar happens.
But when Mr Unknown arrives on the scene, and types a comment with equal emphasis or importance, nobody appreciates what Mr Unknown has to say.
He’s simply ignored!
Well, that’s how it appears, anyway.
Yet, in truth, what Mr Unknown has to offer, could, on occasions, be more significant.
Oh my!
It’s amazing how widely known and esteemed people get acknowledged.
But is everything they say true?
Is it of value, or trash?
Is it good wholesome stuff, or a load of twaddle?
Is it worth thinking about, or is it pretentious silly talk and nonsense?
Does it merit sharing with others, or is it a worthless message?
Hold on!
Are we really that easily led?
Are we gullible?
Green?
Do we really swallow every line without question?
Do we really believe “anyone” who comes along?
Really?
Anyone?
Oh boy!
Come on!
Please, don’t get me wrong, and don’t misunderstand me:
Some of what Rev. Fame and Mrs Celebrity have to say could be right up your street, and strike home.
In reality, it’s just what you “need” to hear.
But listen!
Just because it’s popular – doesn’t make it right!
Likewise, just because it’s fashionable – doesn’t mean it’s credible!
Similarly, just because everybody’s liking it – doesn’t mean it’s okey-dokey!
All I’m saying is, don’t rush to believe everything you hear.
Don’t be eager to like everything either!
Instead, carefully weigh and examine what people tell you.
Check who you listen to.
Measure how you listen.
If your eye is pure, there will be sunshine in your soul.
Equally, if your ear is clear, your mind will be sound.
And this is the heart of the matter, faith comes from listening to “good news.”
So stay awake and keep up your guard.
Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion.
Search God’s Word to check up on dubious statements to see if they are really so.
Don’t be impressed with charisma – look for character.
Who people are is the main thing, not what they say.
But wait!
Get word.
This really matters:
By contrast, the words God speaks to us are not incidental additions to our lives.
They are foundational words, words to build a life on.
So, wise up!
Work God’s Words into your life.
Listen intently to Him.
Be wholly absorbed.
Live deeply in Him.
Then, be empowered.
Oh yeah!
Check it out!
