Glorious Mud

Glorious Mud:

Remember the mud miracle?

Well, Jesus spat on the ground and mixed saliva and dirt to form mud which He smeared across a blind man’s eyes.

Jesus (to the blind man): Go, wash yourself in the pool of Siloam.

Siloam means “sent,” and its name reminds us that his healing was sent by God.

The man went, washed, and returned to Jesus, his eyes now alive with sight.

In this event, Jesus used His saliva soiled fingers with the intention of achieving healing.

Indeed, physical healing was made known!

Spiritual insight was also given a helping hand.

But why saliva?

Why mud?

Why not something kinda like, soap?

I guess it’s quite plausible that Jesus used the mud to duplicate God’s first creation of man:

If we look back, God formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life.

The Man came alive – a living soul

It was like nothing done or experienced or created before.

Distinctive – uniquely and attractively made!

Ground-breaking stuff!

And this is my point:

Jesus showed His power by creating something new.

He used the dirt from the ground to give the man born blind new sight.

He wasn’t improved.

Nope!

But rather, the blind man became brand new!

Total!

Alive with potential.

And let’s not forget, this was the first time in history that anyone had ever given sight to someone born blind.

Wow!

How amazing is that!?

Glorious mud!

No need of face soap here!!

But today, we may ask: Where does our help come from?

Well, our help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Yes, that’s right!

When we get serious about finding God and want it more than anything else, He’ll make sure we won’t be disappointed.

Whether mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual.

Jesus can help.

Think about it:

He’s looking for the person He created you to be.

A brand new person inside and out.

Not the same anymore.

He longs for a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think.

So, let go, and let God change, rearrange.

Be sorted.

Brand new – that is!

Transformed.

Now, with eyes open, drink in His strength and glory.

In His generous love – really live at last!

Let the new life begin!

Alive with hope.

Living hope.

Healed and whole.

No standing still!

Let your arms wave like banners of praise!

Shout encouraging cheers!

Repeat amen!

Oh yes!

Oh yes!!

Glorious!
