Rebuild And Renovate:
The Eternal One said:
“You’ll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past.
You’ll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again.
You’ll take the rubble left behind and make it new.”
Yet sadly, we don’t have to look far around us to see things in ruins.
For instance, there’s the economic system.
The absence of job satisfaction and security.
The general course of events and activities.
The disruption of the family unit.
An endless list.
On the face of it, an irrecoverable state of devastation.
Many voices demanding action!
Many peoples lives in ruins!
Feeling ignored, abandoned.
Lacking vitality and spirit, lifeless.
But, with God’s help, they can be revived, even though they may have been left desolate or empty for some time.
Admittedly, in this message, God was speaking of Jerusalem.
But today, in this generation, this message can apply to us.
We could be in ruins, but those ruins can be built up and renovated.
In a new way – in a new form.
Indeed, our God is a God who builds up and restores.
He makes all things brand new.
He sets lives right, puts them together, and completes them with joy.
He makes lives full in the emptiest of places.
Picture a road through an arid region with little or no vegetation.
Rivers in the deeply eroded barren lands.
Still, sometimes, all He needs to accomplish this, is us.
Kinda like an isolated corn poppy on the edge of a dried-up mucky track.
A “welcome sign” on the way to Recovery.
That’s us!
Sharing our food with the hungry.
Inviting the homeless poor into our homes.
Putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad.
Being available to our own families.
Listen, the alarm clock is ringing!
It’s now time to wake up and look around.
Surely, the fields are already ripe for harvest.
Lives are searching.
Hearts are opening.
Now, come-on Church, with faith, let’s begin to rebuild and renovate.
Let’s purpose to be all that God is calling us to be.
As followers of Christ, let’s single-mindedly serve Him.
Say yes!
