A Piece Of Cake

A Piece Of Cake:

Howdy friends!

Sometimes we have misconceptions, believing that once we devote ourselves to Jesus, our problems will completely disappear.

We assume He will get rid of the rotten “kettle of fish.”

In fact, we bank on Him booting out the stinking “can of worms.”

Surely He will take away the “mess” and “muddle” from our lives, and make everything Okey-dokey.

Oh boy!

If only we didn’t end up in “a pickle!”

If only we didn’t get stuck or immobilized in “a jam!”

If only!

If only!!

Well, have I got news for you!

You see, at times, we will still end up in “deep water.”

We will still hit the hassles.

We will still grapple with life’s pressures in today’s climate.

And sure, we will still have feelings of dissatisfaction, and emotional distress.

No matter how devoted we are to Jesus, no matter how packed together, no one is immune from the circumstances of life.

None of us are exempt from factors causing trouble!

Listen, Jesus speaks frankly to our discontentment and disillusionment.

“In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties.”

It’s a given!

Notice, Jesus never said our loyalty to Him would guarantee a “picnic.”

He never promised “a piece of cake.”

He never said life would be a “breeze” or a “doddle!”

No “walk in the park.”

Instead, Jesus informed His friends that travelling with Him will, in all probability, give rise to heartache and struggles.

Friends, giving ourselves entirely to Jesus will often prove demanding – requiring great patience, effort and skill.

This is a challenge.

But hey, ho!

It’s not all bad news.

Let me reassure you on the say-so of God’s Word:

“Simply take heart!

Jesus has conquered the world!”

Sure-enough, He never pretended life would be “cinch” for those who align with Him.

Yet He does see to it that He is with us through every difficulty that life deals.

And because He has pulled through and engulfed the world, we have hope.

No wonder they call Him the Saviour.

He’s looking out for us.

He never gives up on us.

He’s bigger than any problem.

Indeed, even in these uncertain times, He reaches out to help us in times of trouble.

Yes, that’s right!

He reaches towards you, and me, and anyone, to hold us close to Himself.

Okay, sometimes we may feel like we are rendered powerless by the circumstances that surround us.

Sometimes we may feel weak.

Feeble.

Rejected.

Or even abandoned!

Fearful.

Calamitous.

In a manner suggestive of chaos.

But friends, Jesus is reaching out to give us an encouraging hand.

So, take heart, He wants us to know we are not alone.

May that hope – and the perception that Jesus is with us in the middle of our misery and disorder – bring harmony and relief.

May the truth of this message inspire us with confidence – especially when we experience those gloomy repercussions.

And may our faith in Jesus enable us to walk through every circumstance of life.

What a promise!

He empowers the weary and gives vitality to the exhausted.

He gives strength for each day, hope for tomorrow.

Always has, always will.

Simples!
