Jesus Folk:
As a young lad I use to love observing the attributes that were distinctive and peculiar to many an individual.
As I grew up in a “fellowship” environment, I discovered that one could gain quite a lot by just sitting, listening and observing.
The way people conducted themselves caused me to be interested and curious.
What intrigued me, was the fact that many of these people had been drawn together by one common denominator, their love for Jesus.
Imagine the eccentric clerical worker..
The enthusiastic school teacher.
The carefully observant and attentive mamma.
The gentle, quiet and persevering dad.
The astute executive figure.
The happy-go-lucky blue-collar worker.
Even the one lacking in liveliness or charm and surprise.
Still, I must stop there before I get carried away!
But you get my drift.
All of them came from different walks in life, all from different back-grounds.
All with something unique to contribute.
Sure-enough, it can be interesting watching the attitudes and behaviour, the characteristics of people with faith.
One can learn much from their knowledge and values.
Such richness.
So much diversity.
Full of creativity.
The builder. Shaper. Reformer.
The encourager. Cheerer.
The innovator.
Blessed with talents, abilities, skills and resources.
The qualities go on and on.
One couldn’t do without the other.
The other couldn’t do without the one.
Yet, if it wasn’t for their love of Jesus, their pathways may never cross.
Oh, what an adventure!
Radically distinctive and without equal!
An audacious community of people.
Special instruments doing God’s work and speaking out for Him.
Telling others of the night-and-day difference He makes for them.
Usually known as, Christian.
Sons and daughters with a mission.
Brothers and sisters together.
Having one precise feature:
Ardent love.
