Not Just For Sunday:
“We never threw our weight around or tried to come across as important, with you or anyone else.
We weren’t aloof with you.
We took you just as you were.
We were never patronizing, never condescending, but WE CARED FOR YOU the way a mother cares for her children.
We loved you dearly.
Not content to just pass on the Message, we wanted to give you our hearts.
And we did.”
Precious friends, everybody needs someone to care about them.
Everybody needs a friend.
Establishing relationships with people increases trust.
But, admittedly, it’s not always easy!
Still, sometimes relationships can grow and develop – all be it, surprisingly!
Interestingly, the apostle Paul discovered something of this, as he wrote about the Macedonians’ enthusiasm:
“This was totally spontaneous, entirely their own idea, and caught us completely off guard.
What explains it was that they had first GIVEN THEMSELVES UNRESERVEDLY to God and to us.
The other giving simply flowed out of the purposes of God working in their lives.”
As we home-in on these two passages, we learn that it is essential to share our lives with other followers of Jesus.
All the same, the amount of people we can share with – with confidence and discretion can be, at times, difficult and somewhat restricted.
Even so, we need to have some Christian connections in our lives who are also good friends.
Real good friends!
Friends that know how to avoid embarrassment or distress!
Friends who take us just as we are.
Friends who take the time to find out where we’re at.
Friends who are like-minded.
Friends who are rock-solid, trustworthy.
Friends who know what makes us laugh and why we cry!
Note, you must understand this, journeying alone is a no-no!
What’s more, walking the walk isn’t just a matter of sharing important questions, answers, events and topics relating to your faith!
Travelling along the Christian pathway also means – sharing with friends your experiences of everyday life, including leisure times and those run of the mill activities!
So, not just for Sunday, but let your “God-allegiance” be for life!
Yes! That’s it!
There! I’ve said it!
Let’s build-up hope, and encourage one another in everything we do.
Monday to Sunday.
Sunday to Saturday.
Giving and serving.
Without small-print!
Daily?
Yeah!
