Writer Of Stuff

Writer Of Stuff:

First and foremost, being a 24/7 husband is my number one ministry.

Rightfully, or wrongly though, I posted an updated status to a social networking site this week.

“So what?” you may say, “that’s what it’s all about, keeping folks informed!”

Sure!!

But this week, something just led me to share in a way which was completely devoid of wisdom or good sense!

Other on-line friends had been sharing of what personal ministry opportunities had come their way: The big-time conference they were planning, who they’d met, where they’d been and so on!

Anyhow, due to having some challenging issues with my health, I’m unable to minister in a way that I use to.

Now don’t get me wrong, and don’t let me puzzle you, I’m not confined to our home!

I’m not hiding behind the computer!

And I’m not having a pity-party either!

But, as well as being totally blind, and a double transplant recipient, I now have to self catheterise 8 times a day!

In light of this, carrying so many medical supplies, adds to the bulkiness of any luggage when travelling, and SpeediCath catheters are not yet available in all countries.

For this reason, whatever we do, wherever we go demands super-meticulous planning!

All the same, even though I’m no longer in “normative” ministry – I still have a ministry!

That’s what I told myself, anyway!

And, even though I’m not travelling anymore, today, my ministry has the potential to reach many folks in many nations.

Yeah? Uh-huh!

Strangely though, I got the clear-cut impression, because my current function and gifting doesn’t fit into the present examples of mainstream ministry types – when folks began to read my updated status – some thought I’d, well. Called it a day. Given up. Quit!

Hey! God hasn’t finished with me yet!!

From preaching the word to sharing music – and now writing stuff on-line, I continue to share the message of God’s love and care – shown to us in Jesus Christ.

A technological ministry, perhaps.

Yet, I began to ask myself, can I Really Change the World?

Could I really make a difference?

Can the stuff I write really turn someone’s life around?

Could my words challenge, encourage, build-up, inspire?

Many questions!

Besides, every Christian, at home, in the neighbourhood, or abroad, has a ministry.

Yep? Yes!

And, surely, when we serve others, we are drawing closer to the Father heart of God.

Yeah? Right!

Hum!

So, anonymous visitor, perhaps you’re endlessly searching for meaning and purpose.

Well, precious friend, with a nudge, and a gentle whisper from Father, I’m reminded, each of us must use the gift that He has given us to serve others.

And, as we serve, if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help.

Admittedly, many may write us off, but God sees our heart, and knows our potential.

Thus, as our journey continues, let us find joy in sharing and celebrating God’s work among His children.

After-all, each of us is given something to do that shows who God is.

Oh, yes!
