Without Any Doubt:
“I believe. Help me with my doubts!” was the cry of the father of the boy who moved in a contorted motion when foaming at the mouth.1.
What a prayer!
What a cry!
There may-be times when we pray just like that!
Okay, this cry could sound like an opposition between two conflicting forces or ideas.
On the contrary, it’s a genuine admission of two experiences that determine how things appear.
In other words, “I believe that You have healed others but help me with my doubts – that You will do it for me.”
Friends, there are times when we may feel God has abandoned us, that He has turned away and doesn’t see the heartache and pain, or the strain and stress we are going through.
In truth, there’s a strong possibility that we’ve all felt this way at some point in our lives.
Oh-boy!!
The things we believe on the basis of emotion, intuitions, or indefinite grounds!
Admittedly, life’s journey will be full of ups and downs: Learning to handle both success and failure, living through joy and pain.
That’s a given!
However, the call is not only to have faith when we are enjoying the lofty mountain top experience. Nah!
Rather, the call is for us to continually believe when the journey goes through a virtual valley!
And know this, even though those circumstances may seem unbearable, we have the assurance that our Heavenly Father will intervene.
Still, have you ever had a prayer answered in a way you weren’t expecting?
Surely you have!
May-be there are moments when God answers, but not in the way you want!
Now listen, at the end of the day, God is God and we are not!
Often we appreciate the way He moves in our lives long-time after it happened.
For-sure, He provides a way out, and not a moment too soon!
Always has. Always will!
His timing is perfect!
Remember, “Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want.
It is the belief that God will do what is right!”2.
Anyhow, the boy’s father was unmistakably troubled.
On the one hand, he had his doubts about Jesus and His followers.
On the other hand, he had a problem which cried out for immediate attention – and he needed to believe they could work out a solution.
He needed to know that Jesus would do right for his boy.
And Jesus did.
And He will do the same for you.
Reaching out in faith is not believing that God can, but that God will.
Yes, that’s right!
We may not understand the mystery of prayer.
We don’t need to.
But, consider this, all things are possible for the one who believes.
That’s a definite!
In light of this, let’s show a strong inflexible faith that trusts in God our Saviour.
Without any doubt!
Amen? Amen!
