An Open Heaven:
Today, as I was browsing the Internet, I was abruptly stopped in my tracks as the following headline caught my attention:-
“Water, Water, Everywhere…”
“…Rain Deluges Parts Of Britain – Just As Drought’s Officially Declared.”
Then, the news article continued to say, “There was a certain inevitability about it.
No sooner had drought been declared across large parts of Britain, than the heavens opened.
And they stayed open.”
What an image!
What a contrast!
Obviously, the news article had much more to say regarding the effects of the deluge.
Yet, for me, there was something about the content in the main part of the introduction, something about the two words heavens opened which got me thinking.
Friends, we were not meant to live with dehydrated hearts. Nah!
But rather, Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in Me…”
Yes, that’s right!
Streams of water.
Living water.
Splashing, sploshing.
Filling and completing to the point of overflowing.
Saturating.
Cooling and refreshing.
Bringing revival, growth and life.
This is, as might be expected, much more than a fluid we can swallow, gulp or sip!
More than an energizing drink!
Sure-enough, it’s worth repeating again!
“Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in Me.”
Jesus said this in regard to the Spirit that God longs to give to his children.
So, come on!
As His children, let’s learn to live under an open Heaven.
Let’s believe God’s promise.
He will pour water on the thirsty ground and send streams coursing through the parched earth.
He will pour His Spirit into our descendants and His blessing on our children.
Now, that’s something to think about!
We were not meant to live with dehydrated hearts!
Now, let’s receive and enjoy!
Yeah? Yeah!
Amen!!
