Trust Him:
His huge outstretched arms protect us – under them we’re perfectly safe; His arms fend off all harm.
I’m so aware that you’re all thinking, well, surely it’s a matter of trust!
And certainly it is.
From a youngster, my family and I grew up with some Bible verses which became known as the Princes family promise, and even today they are words to treasure!
In times back yonder, we often recited them like this: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.
Today however, we can feel some of the vitality and directness coming through the words by Eugene Peterson, where he writes in The Message paraphrased version the following:
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go, He’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume you know it all!
Hum!
Let’s break these words down and take a closer look.
Trust God from the bottom of your heart.
Friends, this is essential to your relationship with our Heavenly Father – to trust in Him from the bottom of your heart. This can only be put into action by having a strong belief in Jesus Christ – His Son.
Don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
As soon as you discover the importance of putting your trust in God, you must recognise that you must not trust on, or in anything else: This includes your own knowledge, experience, understanding or insight.
When you do trust in these other things, you may find that you are inclined to misunderstand what God is saying to you.
O boy, it’s so easy to simply think you can figure things out on your own. It’s so easy to believe that God is guiding you along a route where you, and only you want to go, when actually He is not!
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go, He’s the one who will keep you on track.
At all times, give praise to God and don’t accept any yourself. Listen to Him, and as things go right in your life, give praise to Him. He deserves it.
Trust God, by listening to His voice, and try not to depend on yourself, but accept His power and authority.
As you admit the reality of who He is – you will see, without any doubt or question, the way in which He wants you to go.
Yep,that’s right, He’s the one who will keep you on track!
And, one of the tools you can use to help you keep on track is God’s Word, the Bible.
His Word is written down so you’ll know how to live well and right. It’s there to help you understand what life means and where it’s going. You’ve got it! It’s a manual for living.
So, don’t assume you know it all!
God’s Word is a light to your path, ever shining on your way.
For this reason, why are you striving?
Trust Him!
He loves you!
