Immeasurable Love:
As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is His love to those who fear Him. And as far as sunrise is from sunset, He has separated us from our sins.
Recently, I heard someone query whether it was possible to measure from east to west, and the response came:
Yes, from one scarred hand to the other.
It’s a powerful picture! But, what do those scarred hands mean?
Consider this, how marvellous it is that we, you and me, are engraved in the palms of His hands.
Yes, that’s right!
As a matter of fact, the Amplified Bible puts it like this: Behold, I have indelibly imprinted – tattooed a picture of you on the palm of each of My hands.
What a thought!
When Jesus, the Saviour of this world, received the nails in His hands, each hammer blow was etching away a picture of you and me.
Now, that’s profound!
To help us get a clearer perspective, here’s some dictionary definitions:
Engrave: carve, cut, or etch “into” a material or surface.
Imprinted: mark, or stamp with, or as if with pressure.
Tattooed: stain skin with indelible colour – which cannot be removed, washed away, or erased!
Friends, this is the message of the cross:
For God so greatly loved, and dearly prized the world that He even gave up His only begotten, unique Son, so that whoever believes in, trusts in, clings to, relies on Him – shall not perish, come to destruction, be lost – but have eternal, everlasting life.
Jesus died for us, by being subjected to death on a cross.
His sacrificial love bought our freedom, made known His healing and forgiveness, and opened the way for us to have a personal relationship with Him.
God’s love is infinite!
When Jesus stretched out His hands on the cross, He signified to us that He was embracing the world with the extraordinary dimensions of His love.
That’s how much He loves us!
Each scarred hand has an engraving of you and me – a picture of each one of us.
So, here’s the big question, do you know Jesus?
I hope the answer is yes!
