Within Us:
In The Message paraphrase version of Ephesians 3, we read:- God can do anything, you know – far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Charles Dickens was an English writer whose novels depicted and criticized social injustice. 1812-1870.
One of his classic works, was “Oliver Twist.”
Many may recall the scene, when in a state of complete foolhardiness, the young boy holds out his empty bowl and asks for more!
Obviously, since the days of Dickens; the world in many ways has moved on tremendously. But I’m sure even today, there are those who look around and exclaim, “There must be more to life than this!!”
In truth, we all have times when we have dreams of doing things of major significance or importance.
Who doesn’t love to put the world to right?
And who doesn’t long for more?
Yet, did you realize – no matter how wild our ambitions, aspirations, desires & imaginations – they are never as big as God’s extraordinary plan and purpose?
That God can do anything, has to be one of the top, mind-blowing topics in the Bible.
Looking here in Ephesians, a treasure trove has opened to reveal God’s ability in us. Here we see, that He can do anything – by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Wow! Now that’s amazing!!
To think that the omniscient, magnificent, all glorious, victorious God chooses to fulfil His extraordinary plan and purpose; in and through ordinary people – it’s absolutely awesome.
Sure-enough, He chooses to express His Kingdom in and through us.
Just imagine the measure of God’s hand, as He enables our human vessels, to be channels of His goodness and grace.
So, listen up!
God never pushes Himself onto us, never forces us into a situation. He moves deeply & gently by His Holy Spirit – revealing to us & through us His gift of love.
How fantastic, the inexhaustible riches and generosity of God.
The God of faithfulness – without injustice.
For this reason dear friend, let us open up our hearts and lives to the extravagant dimensions of God’s love.
Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.
